TAPAS stakeholder workshop at Aquaculture Europe 2016

The TAPAS project, coordinated by Professor Trevor Telfer of the Sustainable Aquaculture Group, held a stakeholder workshop at Aquaculture Europe 2016 in Edinburgh on Friday 23rd September. The workshop was attended by representatives from the aquaculture industry, scientists, strategic planners and regulators, and the aim was to introduce TAPAS to stakeholders and provide an opportunity for stakeholder engagement and feedback on some of the initial project objectives. The first part of the workshop involved a series of short presentations:

TAPAS: What is it and why is it useful to you?

Professor Trevor Telfer, Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling

Critical review of legislation and practice and their impact on aquaculture development

Dr Dave Jackson, Marine Institute, Ireland

Ecosystem services provided by European aquaculture

Dr Trine Dale, NIVA, Norway

For the second part of the workshop, the participants were divided into groups and asked to discuss some of the key issues related to aquaculture, licensing and ecosystem services. The outcomes of the discussions will be summarised and published on the TAPAS website in due course.

There will be more stakeholder events throughout the TAPAS project. Follow @tapas_h2020 for up to date news.
