Will Leschen attended the conference the first of its kind on the African continent - chairing a session, presenting - as well as announcing the winners of the SARNISSA African Aquaculture Network Cage Culture Photos competition. There were many participants from all sectors- commercial research academia government - from throughout the continent and also globally.
Marion Short undergraduate intern carrying out commercial growth trials in Tilapia in Thailand
Scottish undergraduate intern Marion Short is carrying out a 6 week tilapia feed trial (monosex vs mixed sex) on a commercial fish farm in Thailand. Marion is working in conjunction with Institute's Ghanaian student Dorcas Mensah's MSc thesis project under the supervision of Professor David Little - The project and internship is being sponsored by international aquaculture company Grobest and Sainsburys supermarket.... EU Expert Group on skills and career development in the blue economy
On 1st June 2017 John Bostock attended the kick-off meeting of a new expert group established by the European Commission to advise on skills and career development in the "blue economy". It is anticipated that the process will help encourage more interdisciplinary collaborations and encourage innovations in training provision across the sector.
