William Leschen recently visited southern Malawi for the Scottish Govt funded 3 year SHASP project - which is developing small scale pond hapa based tilapia fingerling producers within a 100km radius of Blantyre. The project works with 5 carefully selected entrepreneurial individuals each year (15 in total) towards making them into financially viable fingerling producers - producing quality Tilapia rendali and Oreochromis shiranus fingerlings in ponds, hapas and concrete hatchery tanks - Further details of the project can be found on the regularly updated Aquaculture Enterprise / SHASP Facebook site
