Simão Zacarias participated in the 2026 Responsible Seafood Summit which was held in Bangkok from 21-24th September. In particular he chaired the session “Shrimp Welfare: Eyestalk Ablation and Humane Slaughter” and gave a presentation on “Transition pathway to non-ablation in shrimp hatcheries”.

Also speaking in the session were Krzysztof Wojtas from the Shrimp Welfare Project, Ravi Kuimar Yellanki from Vaisakhi Bio-Marine, Danny Sturrock from Ace Aquatec and Sarabpreet Singh Matta from Devi Seafoods.
