IFFO The Marine Ingredients Organisation held its Annual Conference in Bangkok Thailand from 24-26th October 2016
Dr Richard Newton from the Sustainable Aquaculture Group of the Institute of Aquaculture (IOA) presented within the technical session on the collaborative work that has been on-going between IFFO and UoS since 2013 - Based on estimating quantities of raw materials for marine ingredient production. This year IFFO sponsored three IoA MSc student projects on b...y-products from UK fisheries and aquaculture, the opportunities and challenges for their use in the marine ingredient industry, the results of which were presented at this conference.
The annual IFFO conference provides a forum for stakeholders in the marine ingredients industry to network and to keep up-to-date with the latest trends within the industry. There are an estimated 200 delegates attending with high representation from the Peruvian and European fishmeal industries, feed manufacturers from Europe and China, and global aquaculture producers. It should be noted that former Stirling alumni Dr Neil Auchterlonie is IFFO's International Technical Director.
