Participation in Tilapia 2025

Sustainable Aquaculture @ Stirling members played an active role in the 5th INFOFISH World Tilapia Trade and Technical Conference and Exhibition held in Bangkok in November 2025. This included exhibition booths for the Asian Fish Welfare Network Project and the Brackishwater tilapia project which is being conducted in partnership with King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi with linked activities in Indonesia led by ThinkAqua.

The Asian Fish Welfare Network project organised a main conference session on “Tilapia Welfare and Certification” and Dr Steph Horn presented on “Health and Nutritional Benefits of Tilapia Consumption” in the session “Value Addition and Market Diversification”.

A scientific poster display was also organised by the team which included a poster on the tilapia production strategy explorer spreadsheet and contributions from partners who received funding under the “Improving Farmed Fish Welfare in Asia” research programme.

The conference was attended by over 400 participants and included researchers, policymakers and many practitioners involved in tilapia farming, processing and trade.
