Freshwater fish consumption in Europe survey launched

As part of the SmartAqua4FuturE (SAFE) project, a consumer survey has been developed and launched to gain further insight into people’s consumption patterns and attitudes towards aquaculture produced fish and particularly their knowledge of, and motivations for consuming freshwater fish, which are the particular focus of the SAFE project.

The survey is available in six languages (English, Finnish, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish), covering most of the partner countries of the project. The aim is to reach both existing seafood consumers and those who eat little or no seafood to better understand the main reasons influencing decisions. There is also some focus on people’s interest in, and willingness to pay for sustainability as one of the key product attributes, and what measures they think might be effective in encouraging more sustainable production practices.

As the SAFE project is particularly researching circular economy solutions for sustainability, the survey asks respondents for their views on various methods to capture and utilse effluent nutrients, e.g. through aquaponics or as a feed source for worm or insect production which in turn can be processed into a feed ingredient.

As the aim is to get a broad and diverse sample of the adult population, please share the following links with your colleagues, friends and family and encourage them to participate - THANK YOU!
